Hubert Hurkacz produced the shock of the tennis autumn on Friday, defeating four-time champion Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-3 in the second round of the Rolex Shanghai Masters. The Polish big-server had lost all eight previous meetings against the 24-time Grand Slam champion, but dominated behind his delivery on Qizhong Stadium court, saving both break points faced. Djokovic, who had claimed the China Open title in Beijing just three days earlier, struggled with timing from the baseline and bowed out in the round of 64. Elsewhere on Friday, second seed Alexander Zverev dispatched Yibing Wu 6-4, 7-6 (4), Ben Shelton defeated Daniel Altmaier 6-3, 7-6 (6), and Japanese qualifier Rei Sakamoto upset Andrey Rublev 6-4, 6-4.
