Alex de Minaur beat Quentin Halys 3-6, 7-6 (5), 7-5. Francisco Cerundolo beat Jakub Mensik 6-3, 6-3. Andrey Rublev beat Roman Safiullin 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.

Tokyo last 16: Carlos Alcaraz beat Matteo Arnaldi 7-6 (6), 6-1 after saving four set points, per Field Level Media. Also on that Tokyo card: Adolfo Vallejo beat Matteo Berrettini 7-6 (6), 6-1, and Jiri Lehecka beat Ugo Humbert 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.

What it changes

Jannik Sinner, the world No. 1, withdrew from the coming Shanghai Masters with a lingering right knee. Field Level Media reported the withdrawal on Saturday 3 October. He has not played since the Wimbledon final. This desk does not print a Shanghai result or a Sunday winner.
