Baycurrent Classic Moving Day: Mitchell and Bridgeman lead pursuit in Yokohama

Why Moving Day matters in Japan

Saturday is Moving Day at the PGA Tour’s Baycurrent Classic, and the stage is set for a dramatic push up the leaderboard at Yokohama Country Club. With 500 FedExCup Fall points and an 8 million dollar purse on the line, the third round will separate contenders from the rest of the pack.

Leaders on the first tee

Keith Mitchell and Jacob Bridgeman share the 36-hole advantage at 11 under par after matching 131 totals through two rounds. Both players avoided bogeys on the back nine on Friday to maintain their perch atop the leaderboard. Playing alongside them in the final group at 10:36 AM JST is six-time PGA Tour winner Max Homa, who carded a sparkling 67 on Friday to move to 9 under.

The crowded chase pack

The leaderboard is packed with firepower. Sharing third place with Homa at 9 under are Zach Bauchou, Ben Kohles, and Mac Meissner. Just one stroke further back at 8 under sits major champion Justin Thomas alongside Stephan Jaeger and Min Woo Lee. Japanese icon Hideki Matsuyama sits four shots adrift at 7 under, drawing massive galleries as he looks to mount a trademark Saturday surge.

No cut means all 72 players remain

Because the Baycurrent Classic features a 72-player limited field with no cut, every player has the opportunity to shoot low and climb into contention. With favorable scoring conditions forecast across the par-71 layout, the leader after Saturday will hold a commanding advantage heading into Sunday’s final round.
