Celli and Elvira 13 under after 54 holes. Sunday has no champion.

Why this round matters

The BMW PGA Championship is the DP World Tour flagship. After 54 holes at Wentworth it has two names at 13 under and it does not have a winner. That is the honest line on 20 September.

What actually happened

AP third-round totals: Filippo Celli 68-66-69, 203, 13 under. Manuel Elvira 69-66-68, 203. Alejandro Del Rey 69-71-64, JJ Spaun 70-66-68 and Johannes Veerman 68-72-64, all 204. Rory McIlroy 69-67-69, 205. Adam Scott 67-67-71, 205. Ryan Gerard, the 36-hole leader, 67-65-75, 207, 9 under.

CBS: Gerard five bogeys in his first 14 Saturday holes, two late birdies. McIlroy a kick-in eagle on 18 after a dart from 231 yards. Del Rey, Veerman and Kristoffer Reitan all shot 64. FOX and Today’s Golfer print Celli and Elvira as co-leaders heading into Sunday. Today’s Golfer: last group 1:05 p.m. local, Celli with Elvira.

What we will not print

A champion. A Sunday 62. A collapse that has not finished. Round 4 is 20 September. The Presidents Cup is still 24-27 September at Medinah.
