Gerard 12 under after 36 holes at Wentworth. Saturday has not been played.
Official board: 132. Scott and Celli two back. McIlroy four back. No champion. Do not invent one.
Why this round matters
The BMW PGA Championship is the DP World Tour flagship. After 36 holes at Wentworth it has a leader and it does not have a winner. That is the honest line on 18 September.
What actually happened
DP World Tour leaderboard: Ryan Gerard 67-65, 132, 12 under, alone. Adam Scott 67-67 and Filippo Celli 68-66, both 10 under. Manuel Elvira 69-66 and Aaron Rai 66-69, both nine under. Five players at eight under, including Rory McIlroy 69-67 and Open champion Ryan Fox 68-68.
PA: McIlroy a five-under 67, four shots behind Gerard. Gerard eagled 17 from about 20 feet and birdied 18 for a bogey-free 65. AP: Jon Rahm 78-77, last of the 140 players who finished 36 holes, missed the cut. PA: Tommy Fleetwood missed the cut at three over.
What we will not print
A champion. A Sunday 62. A collapse that has not happened. Rounds 3 and 4 are 19-20 September. The Presidents Cup is still 24-27 September at Medinah.
