Bears hold off Patriots 30-24: Santos 58-yarder seals TNF win

Soldier Field thriller opens Week 7

The Chicago Bears held off a furious fourth-quarter comeback by the New England Patriots to claim a 30-24 victory on Thursday Night Football at Soldier Field. Quarterback Caleb Williams delivered one of his sharpest performances of the campaign, completing 22 of 33 passes for 308 yards, two touchdowns and zero turnovers for a 116.7 passer rating. Rookie wideout Luther Burden III dominated the first half with 130 receiving yards and a score, while running back D’Andre Swift contributed 78 rushing yards and a touchdown.

New England battled back behind quarterback Drake Maye, who finished 24 of 31 for 321 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Maye connected with Rhamondre Stevenson on a sensational 48-yard catch-and-run score before finding Eli Raridon in the end zone to pull within three. With 1:34 remaining, veteran kicker Cairo Santos drilled a franchise record-matching 58-yard field goal to put the game on ice. The win moves the Bears to 5-2, while the Patriots drop to 4-3.

NFC standings take shape

The Thursday night result adds another crucial victory to Chicago’s resume in a fiercely contested NFC North. Across the league, the San Francisco 49ers remain the sole 6-0 team following their Monday night victory over Washington, while Kansas City and Minnesota both hold 5-0 records heading into the weekend. Buffalo sits at 5-1 after edging Las Vegas. Week 7 action continues on Sunday with the Chiefs, Vikings and 49ers looking to protect their unblemished records.
