The Country Club of Jackson served up another day of red-hot scoring on Friday as Beau Hossler carded a bogey-free 8-under 64 to seize the 36-hole lead at the Sanderson Farms Championship.
Hossler began his second round on the 10th tee and was immediately in rhythm, turning in 3-under 33 before mounting an electric surge on his inward nine. Five birdies across seven holes, capped by a 14-foot conversion on the par-4 ninth, moved the 29-year-old to 15-under 129. Seeking his maiden PGA Tour victory in his 188th career start, Hossler gained more than 3.8 strokes on the field with his putting alone.
Hot on his heels is Daniel Berger, whose comeback from a long injury layoff gained major momentum with a second consecutive 7-under 65. Berger sits solo second at 14-under 130, playing with the precise iron control that once made him a fixture of United States Ryder Cup teams.
Defending champion Kevin Yu remains squarely in the hunt after adding a 6-under 66 to his opening 68. Yu shares fourth place at 10-under par alongside Mackenzie Hughes and Keith Mitchell. With the 36-hole cut settling at a demanding 4-under par, the weekend promises a furious race for the 500 FedExCup points and two-year winner exemption.
