After JJ Spaun clinched the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth with a 17-under masterclass, global golf turns immediately to team competition. Medinah Country Club hosts the 16th Presidents Cup on its newly redesigned Course No. 3, bringing 24 of the world’s finest players together in Chicago.
What actually happened
PGA Tour and PresidentsCup.com report that teams arrived in Illinois on 22 September for official preparations. Brandt Snedeker captains a powerhouse U.S. squad featuring world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Cameron Young, Wyndham Clark, Sam Burns, Collin Morikawa and Patrick Cantlay.
Geoff Ogilvy leads an International side brimming with experience and youth. Adam Scott makes his record-equalling 12th cup appearance, joining Hideki Matsuyama, Min Woo Lee, Tom Kim, and Open champion Ryan Fox. The International team seeks to break a championship drought dating back to 1998.
What to watch next
Official competition runs from Thursday 24 September through Sunday 27 September. Foursomes, four-balls, and Sunday singles will determine whether the United States preserves its home reign or the International squad makes history on Medinah’s treacherous greens.
