Why this month matters
Sports desks love to talk about basketball in June and then forget the sport exists until October. That is a men’s calendar. The WNBA just finished a 40-game season. Playoffs start 27 September. The NBA is in its offseason, title already hanging in New York.
Two true things
The Knicks won the 2026 NBA Finals 4-1 over the Spurs, Brunson 45 in Game 5, 13 June. That series is archive.
The Lynx are 31-9. The Valkyries are 29-11. The Aces are 27-13 and still the defending champions until someone takes the trophy. That series has not started.
What it changes
