A dominant Game 3 in Atlanta
The Atlanta Dream seized control of the WNBA Finals on Wednesday night, routing the Golden State Valkyries 97-71 in Game 3 at State Farm Arena. The 26-point victory puts Atlanta ahead 2-1 in the best-of-five championship series. The official scorer report confirmed quarters of 25-18, 24-17, 26-16 and 22-20, as the Dream outscored the Valkyries in every single period before a sellout crowd of 17,854.
Angel Reese delivered another historic performance, posting 21 points, 12 rebounds and three steals while shooting 8 of 14 from the floor. Reese became the first player in WNBA history to record a double-double in each of her first three career Finals games. Rhyne Howard added 16 points and four three-pointers, Naz Hillmon contributed 15 points off the bench, and Isobel Borlase scored 12. Golden State struggled against Atlanta’s interior length, shooting 35 percent from the field. Tiffany Hayes paced the Valkyries with 14 points, while Janelle Salaun added 13.
Friday brings championship point
The Dream now stand one victory away from hoisting the first WNBA championship trophy in franchise history. Game 4 is scheduled for Friday, 23 October, at State Farm Arena with tip-off at 8:00 p.m. ET on USA Network, Peacock and CNBC. A win crowns Atlanta champion, while a Valkyries victory would send the series back to Chase Center for a decisive Game 5 on Sunday.
