WNBA Playoffs Game 2: Caitlin Clark and Fever aim to sweep Dream into semifinals
Atlanta faces sudden-death elimination on home floor as Indiana looks to close out opening-round series.
Why this one matters
The 2026 WNBA postseason moves at breakneck speed, and by Tuesday midnight, two franchises could already be celebrating semifinal berths. Headlining the evening slate is Game 2 between the Indiana Fever and Atlanta Dream at Gateway Center Arena, where the hosts face sudden-death elimination.
Indiana holds all the cards following Sunday’s 86-80 road victory. In her playoff debut, Caitlin Clark delivered a masterclass in game management, dishing 11 assists, scoring 24 points, and burying two decisive step-back three-pointers in the closing two minutes. Alongside center Aliyah Boston, who dominated the paint with 18 points and 12 rebounds, Indiana proved their regular-season surge was built for playoff basketball.
What Atlanta must change
For the Atlanta Dream, Tuesday represents their entire season in 40 minutes. Head coach Tanisha Wright must find answers to Clark’s pick-and-roll orchestration without leaving Boston and Kelsey Mitchell unattended. Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard combined for 44 points in Game 1, but Atlanta surrendered 14 second-chance points on the offensive glass.
If Atlanta can increase defensive ball pressure and control defensive rebounds, they can push the series back to Indianapolis for a deciding Game 3. If they hesitate, Clark and the Fever will celebrate their first semifinal appearance in a decade.
